Announcing Our Grand Adventure!

Hello everyone! So … if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you may have noticed I’ve been dropping some sneaky hints about some big news.

Well, I’m very excited to announce that next month Simply + Fiercely is going on a grand adventure around the world! I’m getting married and going on an extended honeymoon.

It’s probably pretty clear from this blog that travel is and has always been a big part of my life.

There are so many fun things about travel (and I won’t lie, not working and breaking free from the daily grind is obviously one of them) but I’ve also realised that my case of wanderlust is something deeper. Travel is a way for me to satisfy so many of my core values all at once: learning new things, freedom, creativity, and appreciating the beauty in life.

Lucky for me, my soon to be husband has similar values and loves travel as much as I do. When we decided to get married, we figured it was a perfect opportunity to visit all our family and friends around the world and go on an amazing adventure as well.

WHERE ARE WE GOING + HOW LONG ARE WE GOING FOR

There is a saying—”it’s all about the journey”—and this definitely rings true to my heart! I can be happy travelling almost anywhere; it’s less about the destination and more about the excitement of discovering new places, going on unexpected adventures, and taking in all the beauty of the world.

So to be 100% honest, we let the price of airline tickets guide our itinerary choices. Next week I’ll be posting a detailed post about how to get the best prices on round the world flights (I used to be a travel agent so I love talking about airfares) and in that post, I’ll reveal all the nitty-gritty details of where we are going and how much we paid.

For now, I’ll tell you that we will be gone for seven months and we will be making our way through Southeast Asia, Europe, North Africa, and across the Americas. There are a few old favourites in there but also plenty of new exciting destinations!

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT ON THE BLOG

In the next few weeks I’ll answer some questions you probably have – like How I Afford to Travel and I’ll also share How to Pack for a 7 Month Trip – Carry On Only! (Psst—If you’ve ever thought about downsizing and simplifying your wardrobe there will be some great tips in that post, even if you’re not planning a trip.)

Once the journey begins, I’ll definitely be sharing photos and stories about my favourite adventures but if you’re not interested in travel, don’t worry. I’ll still be writing a lot about simple and intentional living too.

My hope is that I’ll be able to share more of the lessons travel teaches me about life and ways we can all apply this to our everyday lives.
