How To Be Happy With What You Have | a guide to being content

SIMPLY + FIERCELY

Have you ever caught yourself thinking ...

I just need ____ and then my life will be so much better“?

if you don’t know how to be happy with what you have, then it’s unlikely anything you can buy will make you any happier.

If so, you definitely aren’t alone, but the hard truth is ...

I know this probably isn’t news—deep down you already know a new purchase isn’t really going to make you happier.

So the question is, how do you stop wanting more?

Start by observing your triggers. Was it a friend boasting about a new dress? A stressful day at work? Something you saw on social media?

The more you understand where your desire for more comes from, the more prepared you are to handle it.

Next, rewrite the stories you tell yourself.

We buy things because we think they'll change our lives.  "New makeup or a new dress will make me prettier!"

But nothing you can buy in the shops can change you.  Only YOU can change the way you feel about yourself.

You can also try creating a regular gratitude practice. It creates perspective.

When we appreciate what we already have, we stop looking outwards for something to fill the gap.

As a reformed shopaholic, I know  it's not easy to stop wanting more.
