7 Simple Living Podcasts to Inspire You

I know I’m pretty late to the game … but I’ve only just recently started falling in love with podcasts. They are great for this mama-to-be because honestly, lately just holding up a book or even my phone feels like a lot of effort! (Third trimester exhaustion is no joke!) But fortunately, podcasts solve this problem—I love how easy it is to put my feet up, close my eyes, and listen to some inspiring content.

Speaking of inspiring content, I thought I’d share a roundup of my favourite simple living podcasts with you! My life has been seemingly more complicated lately, so I love hearing other people’s perspectives on simple living. We are all so different so I love learning what simplicity means to different people, don’t you?

THE MINIMALISTS

In true minimalist fashion, Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus create powerful but minimal conversations about living a life full of meaning with less “stuff”.

One thing I love about this podcast is that some episodes are just a couple minutes long but they bring thought-provoking and helpful conversations to life. I think as part of simplifying our lives, we don’t always want to listen to an hour-long episode (although they have those too) so the short quick episodes are a perfect way to listen and simplify.

MINIMALIST MOMS PODCAST

To all my fellow mamas out there trying to keep life simple but practical … this podcast is for you. It’s like going to a mother’s group without actually having to leave the house!

The host, Diane Boden, and her guests cover so many everyday life topics: everything from simple eating and laundry to moving and decorating. There’s something for every mom, no matter where you are on your simple living journey.

THE SLOW HOME PODCAST

In this podcast, the founder Brooke McAlary encourages discussions about what it means to slow down in a fast-paced world. I love that she even opens the floor to whether or not it’s possible. If you’re looking for a laid back, easy listening podcast about the slow living movement, with lots of guests and unique perspectives, then The Slow Home is a great option!

MINIMALI-ISH: REALISTIC MINIMALISM

Do you ever feel like most minimalism messages sound great in theory … but they just don’t feel practical for your life?

If so, be sure to check out the Minimal-ish podcast. The host, Desirae Endres, refers to “grace filled” minimalism and if you know me, you’ll know this speaks to my heart!  I love how she acknowledges that minimalism is a path to intentional living— so if that resonates with you, be sure to give it a listen.

LIVE HAPPY NOW

This podcast is from the editors of Live Happy magazine. While it doesn’t focus solely on simple living conversations, it does host many well known positive psychology leaders and authors. The main topics all surround both scientifically proven tips and meaningful ways to live better lives (and at the end of the day, isn’t that what simple living is really all about?).

CLEAN. SIMPLE. FREE. MINIMALIST LIVING

This is a newer podcast but I like what I’ve heard so far. They cover everything from mindset & emotions around decluttering to practical decluttering tips, as well as interviews. An especially good option if you’re new to minimalism—there aren’t too many episodes so you can start from the beginning and go from there!

SIMPLE FAMILIES | PARENTING + MINIMALISM

I really enjoy podcasts about minimalism and parenting. I started my minimalist journey long before I had kids, so I haven’t witnessed the direct “before and after” effect of simplifying with children, so it’s interesting to hear other people’s stories.

But this podcast doesn’t stop there. Simple Families is hosted by Denaye Barahona—she has a doctorate degree in child development and shares all her amazing parenting and simple living knowledge with her listeners. If you’re looking for a podcast with real life, researched tips to help you cultivate a life of simple and better living with kids, this one is a great place to start!
